Are your cues louder than your lesson?

Not in sound, but in how much they dominate attention and replace the student’s own perception of movement.

The visual–spatial intelligence we have allows us as dancers to read timing through bodies rather than sound.

It shows up in alignment, direction changes, and shared focus points, yet it’s often left underdeveloped in teaching even though it can fully carry rhythm on its own.

When instruction over-relies on constant signalling, counting, or exaggerated prompting, it can obscure the actual learning target especially for a deaf student.
