Most dance teaching misses one core shift when teaching Deaf students:

It often translates rhythm into sound-based substitutes (counts, claps, verbal cues) instead of redesigning rhythm as a visual–kinetic system.
A more effective approach treats timing as something built into movement itself, through consistent initiation signals, repeatable spatial pathways, and clearly differentiated motion qualities, so that students can directly perceive structure rather than infer it from auditory proxies.
