What a lovely review

An evening with Janet exploring the story of Cuban dance rhythms and connection was absolutely brilliant. The way she brought the history and evolution of the music and dance to life was both engaging and deeply informative, making it accessible for everyone in the room, regardless of experience.

What stood out most was her ability to connect the technical elements of rhythm with the emotional and cultural roots behind them. It wasn’t just a lecture —it felt like a journey through the heart of Cuban dance.

I particularly loved the audience participation. It created such a warm, inclusive atmosphere and really helped embed what we were listening to in a fun, memorable way. You could feel the energy in the room building as everyone got involved.

A truly inspiring and enjoyable evening—highly recommended for anyone with an interest in dance, music, or simply learning something new.

The dance

Argentine Tango is a close-embrace, improvised dance focusing on connection, walking, and musicality rather than rigid patterns.

Beginners should start by learning the "cradle" embrace,

“Salida” basic 8-step pattern

“Ocho” types of swivels

The dance relies on a clear, intimate lead-follow connection where the leader directs, and the follower navigates the space
