Inclusive Language Basics

Inclusive language means using words that respect and affirm people’s identities. A few quick swaps:

different generations have different ideas on the subject and may use different words but Janet and helpers try to use

  • everyone Instead of “guys

  • person Instead of “disabled person”, (unless someone states their preference)

  • gender-neutral terms like “leader and follower ” instead of “man/lady”.
