The Quiet Between Us

The world is quiet, a silent place,

no whispers drift, no footsteps race.

Laughter, music, words that flow,

are shadows only you can know.

I watch your lips, I read the care,

a fleeting glance, a lifted stare.

Sounds are strangers I only meet,

from meanings lingered in your heartbeat.

A bell may toll, a song may rise,

I cannot hear, or see their cries.

Confusion blooms, then slowly fades,

in gestures, smiles, and tender shades.

Though silence fills the empty space,

I find the world in your dear face.

For even when no sound is near,

connection speaks, and your loves clear.
