This week’s strictly

As usual this week is the first week I can truly name actual steps rather than just the basic movement/action and a few shapes. So I named as many as I could see for each choreography. Note there not in dance order.

Alex & Johannes

The choreography had lots of CCC steps which I loved: Natural Top, New York, Hand to Hand, Fan, Alamana, Time Steps, Three Threes and other basics.

Great footwork and leg action. Though her body posture was forward there was not enough weight through the body and legs to create a hip action. Where the routine was correct she was in time and her rhythm was good.

George and Alexa

Again nice Quickstep choreography with steps I could recognise: Scatter Chasses, Promenade Runs, Wood Pecker, Charleston Kicks, Pendulum, Natural Spin Turn, Lock Steps. Loved the frame and posture and he lead it well. Good footwork and great rhythm and timing.

Lewis & Katya

The drama and story telling in this routine was great. Rumba choreography I saw: Fan, Alamana, Open outs, Cucaracha, Rumba Walks, Lunges, and Back Breaks. Well lead, with great timing, beautiful arms, and a lovely connection. I just felt it needed a bit more Cuban action.

Balvinder & Julian

The Jive choreography was great: Chicken walks, Change of Place, Fallaway Throwaway, Whip, Link, Basic in Throwaway.

Quite a few mistakes near the end which was sad. She had great kicks and swivels, with her poise in the correct place. The energy was good and the rhythm and timing was really great.

Karen & Carlos

Loved the shapes and the locking and popping. Great: Top Rocks, Running Man, Freezes, Moon Walks and Dougie.

A strong street dance with lots of energy, great timing and atmosphere throughout. Loved it.

Amber & Nikita

Great energetic Jive with lots of good footwork and choreography: Chicken Walks,  Swivels, Simple Spin, Change of Place, Drunken Sailor,  Hands Behind the Back, and Link.

The kicks were brilliant and the rhythm spot on.

Instant dance

Alex & Johannes - Rumba

Cuban Basic to start, very clever Johannes loved the Roped Spin but all a bit steppy.

George and Alexa - Tango

Five step to start then Alex was leading but it looked like they where having fun.

Lewis & Katya - Jive

Great Jive that is all I can say. So in sync and full of choreography.

Balvinder & Julian - Paso Doble

Lovely use of skirt though the length of it hid the steps but the drama was good and she covered the floor well.

Karen & Carlos - Cha cha cha

Roll off the arm showed her ability to spin but there was not much else.

Amber & Nikita - Samba

Lovely energy, great shimmys and lovely promenade runs.
